The Water Transfer Printing Process
The most important step is the preparation of the surface to be printed upon. The material must be cleaned and sanded using special gentle abrasives. Then the appropriate bonder or primer is applied.
The client may choose from hundreds of designs. The chosen design pattern has been printed on a special polyvinyl film.
The film is carefully laid on the surface of the water in a tank especially made for Camo-Dipping (another term for Water Transfer Printing).
An activating solvent is then sprayed onto the pattern. The film dissolves, leaving the printed pattern on the surface of the water.
The object is then dipped through the pattern.
The pattern wraps around the object and adheres to its surface, no matter how complex the shape of the object, creating a continuous finish.
Several coats of flat or high gloss automotive urethane are applied. Automotive urethane meets the demanding standards for hardness, UV resistance, chemical Resistance, and adhesion. And Hydro-Imaging is also easy to maintain.
After application, the finished surface is sanded and buffed to a beautiful finish.
As each item is Hydro-Printed, you can either pick it up, or we will ship it to you; the choice is yours.
